Terrific Tuesday: How About Orange

Ok, I know it's not Tuesday but I just couldn't keep this one to myself one more minute! I discovered this blog this afternoon and I can't wait to try out these crafts! Tomorrow is my day off from work, so you know what I'll be doing...after I finish my chores of course...

It's called How About Orange and it's run by Jessica Jones from Evanston, IL. Her blog is absolutely adorable and I must admit I wish mine was half as cute! It's called How About Orange since that's her favorite color (we like that color here at "the table" as well!) Not to mention she's super clever and witty (again, wishing I had half of that) and her directions are not full of obfuscation simple.

Terrific Tuesday: Piccadilly Heart

In my living are two bookshelves that sit on either side of my television. During Halloween season I hung a large decoration of suspended wooden letters that spelled "BOO." I absolutely adored it.

I'm getting tired of seeing my fall decorations because I've officially been bitten by the holiday bug and my Christmas decorations are going up the Saturday after Thanksgiving. (Which, by the way, is my favorite holiday.)  I thought for Christmas I could get a one that said something festive like "Fa La La" or "Merry Christmas."

So today's Terrific Tuesday features an artist who has as much holiday cheer as I do. PiccadillyHeart's etsy shop is chock full of cute holiday banners and place cards and ornaments.

Piccadilly Heart is new to Etsy, having just joined in September of this year. I just happened to stumble upon this shop looking for holiday decorations.

Let's check out some of Piccadilly Heart's creations, shall we?

We will start with Thanksgiving, since it is November and it's the turkey's month. Here's a set of Pilgrim Hat Place Cards that I thought were super precious.

Each one is made out of cardstock and you can even have the names written on before they are mailed. Too Adorable. Gotta love these. They come in a set of five and can be made to order and they sell for $4. Very nicely priced if you ask me!

Next we have the Let is Snow Banner. It's made of blue and white snowflake paper and strung from a silver ribbon.

It's my favorite banner in the shop and though it's a little long for my living room, I think I could probably make or order one that was shorter or just said "Snow." I think this is super charming and very well made. It costs $10, which is about what you'd pay for something of the same quality at Hobby Lobby or Michaels.

Check out these Santa Cupcake Wrappers. They are made of red cardstock with a black belt and a yellow buckle. They are super adorable and my mother in law would flip over these! I may get a set before Christmas to bring over for Christmas Eve. At $5 for a set of 12, I can definitely afford them!

Terrific Tuesday: cut.color.crochet

As the weather gets colder I gradually take my jackets, sweaters, hats and mittens out from hiding. Just the other day I unloaded a bag of scarves and found a purple pashmina I thought was lost forever, and a super-cute, crocheted, white hat and scarf set that I had forgotten I had. So in the spirit of the cooler weather, today's Terrific Tuesday feature is about a crochet genius.

Cut.color.crochet is a 27-year-old hairstylist from Trenton, New Jersey. She is also a self-taught crocheter (is that a word? I hope so.)  Here's what she says about her projects, "I find it very relaxing, and the end result always makes me happy." (Much like how I feel about making bread.) She also says, " I love picking out yarn, and choosing the colors - I am completely connected to everything I create." (Like the local farmers I talked about in this post a few days ago.)  She opened her shop on 10.10.10 (the same day CenterPointe had it's grand opening!) and she's been growing ever since. I fell in love with cut.color.crochet because I was looking on etsy for a pair of affordable mittens. I LOVE homemade mittens. I have a pair that my mother made while I was in the womb and I love them. I also love fingerless gloves, and crocheted hats and scarves.

The item I found most clever on her shop was the Bearded Hat:

This is a hand-made hat with a detachable beard. I LOVE this idea. I am totally buying one for my husband...IF I can convince him to wear it. I think it's so incredibly clever to attach a crocheted beard to a man's hat - especially if your man, like mine, doesn't like to grow a beard. (I don't like them either, too scratchy!) The hat has buttons on the inside to adjust or remove the beard. So clever! Her bearded hats sell for $35 and can be special ordered in the colors of your choice. The beard comes in brown, gray, black, red and white.

Terrific Tuesday: The Alternative Jewely Shop

There's a little place in Nicholasville, KY called The Alternative Jewelry Shop. It's owned by Danny and Libby Barnes and they make custom jewelry pieces. They set my diamond for me and we plan on using them to make custom rings for us as soon as we can afford to.

They use wax molds to create their custom jewelry. First they help you come up with a design that suits you, then they make a wax mold, and then they cast the metal, fill with your stones and give you the final product.

Let's take a look at the story of a ring from the wax mold to the finished product. I took some photos off their website of my favorite piece. This has to be the prettiest ring I've ever seen in my life!

This is a photo of a 1.6 carat antique cushion cut diamond in the wax mold. Isn't it gorgeous?

Terrific Tuesday: MadeByRori

Today's Terrific Tuesday is right up my alley. I love stamps and notebooks so this hits the spot for me. Her name is Rori Harrington and she runs her esty shop called MadeByRori out of Dallas.

Her moleskine notebooks are so practical and she stamps them up to make them super cute! Cute and practical - very me.


Let me share a few of my favorites with you.

All her notebooks are $8 - which is pretty much on par with what you will pay at your local bookstore, but these are stamped with super cute stamps (the whale is by far my favorite!)

Terrific Tuesday: Boojiboo!

I Love love love this shop. I love it. I cannot stress to you how crazy I am about this etsy shop - so I'm sharing it with you!

Today's featured crafter is Boojiboo - apron expert and classical seamstress!
 Boojiboo is a mother and daughter team from La Mirada, California. These three sew the sweetest aprons and sell them in their shop on etsy.  These aprons are not  only super-cute, they are also well-priced.

Vintage Inspired Louisiana Spicy Gumbo Half Apron

I'm not quite as crazy about this one, but I wanted to feature a half apron since they make those as well.

All of their aprons sell for $28.75 - about what you would pay at any home goods store.  I get the feeling Reeve might even get me one for our next gift giving holiday! Wander around their shop for a while and then maybe go make a batch of cookies...

Terrific Tuesday: wulfgirl!

Today's Terrific Tuesday features wulfgirl, an artist on Etsy. For starters, this gal's name is Virginia Wulf - which is very cool. Her day job is as an Interpreter for the Deaf- also cool! But the reason she's featured on The Cluttered Table is because she makes gorgeous jewelry!

Just check out some of her beautiful hand-made jewely:

These are the Smokey Brown Blown Glass on Vermeil Hoop Earrings. The detail on these earrings is remarkable and the color is so unique!



Above are the AAA Freshwater Pearl and Ruby Earrings. They are elegant and simple. I have a co-worker who would love them.

And last but not least we have the 20" Strand of Gorgeous Brown-Grey-Green Freshwater Pearls. I love oddly-colored jewely like chocolate diamonds and dark pearls. Gorgeous!

Her jewelry is well-made and crafted with quality stones and beads. Her prices are reasonable and can fit into any budget. Her shipping costs are reasonable and I will definitely be keeping an eye on her shop for a while. I'd highly recommend wandering on over to her shop on Etsy and looking around. These would make great gifts for Valentines Day or Mother's Day or Christmas or an anniversary.
